Introducing The WAWA Show!

An acronym for "We Are Women Artists", the show's creator Amanda Mabro, took partial inspiration from comedienne Gilda Radner's Legendary "Baba Wawa" sketch. In fact, part of the proceeds from the first event were donated to Gilda's Club. On December 7th, 2003 at Montreal's fabulous Sala Rossa, the original production was a smash hit showcasing women artists spanning across the artistic spectrum. WAWA is about fostering community among artists in all fields and is proud to bring women together in a positive and inspiring forum! The show is produced by Amanda Mabro with the help of her long time collaborator Cozmos Quazar and their bitchin' empire - a revolving door of kick ass people you need to know about. Every year the show has a new host and new artists added to its roster. Don't miss it!

It's WAWA 2008!!!

ALL ABOUT WAWA IN THIS WEEK'S MIRROR!Posted 12/21/05

Friday, December 30th will mark the second production of this celebration of women in the arts. An acronym for "We Are Women Artists", the show's creator Amanda Mabro, took partial inspiration from comedienne Gilda Radner's Legendary "Baba Wawa" sketch. In fact, part of the proceeds from the first event were donated to Gilda's Club. On December 7th, 2003 at the magnificent Sala Rossa, the original production was a smash hit showcasing women artists spanning across the artistic spectrum.

This time around the event will be a pre-New Year's Eve Masquerade Party with music, magic, dancing and a special burlesque treat to cap off the evening. In addition to showcasing women artists, the show boasts a "New Vaudeville" theme, drawing on influences from the hedonistic miasma of the jazz age to the feel-good musical comedy of the baby-boomers. Be prepared for anything from authentic card tables to Carney folk, slapstick to Summer stalk at this quirky costume ball!
